Spring Gun & Knife Show- Last Weekend in March

GREAT EVENT! BE SURE AND MARK YOUR CALENDARS. You’ll be able to buy, sell or trade new guns, old guns, memorabilia and more during this big annual Spring Gun and Knife Show the second Saturday and Sunday in March in the Historic Hardy Gym. This is a good time to see not only the newest guns and knives available but also old guns, Civil War memorabilia, decoys and calls. Knives of all shapes and sizes will be for sale. Knife sharpening will also be offered. Food vendors will be on site both days for refreshments.The show, sponsored by the City of Hardy, will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, The Historic Hardy Gym is located at 203 School Street.
Admission: $3.00 (children under 12 free must be accompanied by an adult). Location: Historic Hardy Gym, 203 School St. Door prize, food concession. Dealers and private vendors welcome. Vendor spaces $25.00.

En Plein Air- Dr. Thompson Park- March 27th

Dr. Thompson Park will be the site of the Spring River Artist Guild Art in the Park. En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. The popularity of painting en plein air increased in the 1870s with the introduction of paints in tubes (resembling modern toothpaste tubes). Previously, each painter made their own paints by grinding and mixing dry pigment powders with linseed oil. Come enjoy the paintings of our local artists and be prepared to purchase a painting to be treasured for generations to come. Easter Egg Hunt- April 3rd

KIDS FROM ALL OVER ENJOY THIS EVENT. THESE KIDS WERE FAST AND HAD THOSE EGGS SCOOPED UP WITHIN 6 MINUTES LAST YEAR. Bring your children to Loberg Park for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt the Saturday before Easter. Toddler to 10 years can participate in hunting over 9,000 eggs with candy in every one. Sponsered by the City of Hardy Advertising and Promotion Commission. Hunt starts promptly at 12:00 when the noon whistle blows. Hardy Garden Club Bean & Ham Dinner- April 3rd

This event will be held in the Historic Hardy Gym from 11am to 2:30 pm. The meal includes beans, cornbread, dessert, and drink. Adult $6.00 under 12 $3.00. Sponsored by the Hardy Garden Club. Some of the Best Ham and Beans ever cooked can be bought at this annual event. Everyone is invited to come out and have a bowl or two. The event supports the Hardy Garden Club's many projects. The Hardy Garden is a vital part of the City of Hardy. While your attending this worthwhile event, enjoy the silent auction, buy tickets for the gun raffle (Henry 22 cal. lever action Goldenboy) $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, and of course how can you pass up those delicious baked goods at the bake sale. Hardy Spring Festival- April 17-18

The Hardy Lady Dalmatians present the Hardy Spring Festival. There will be plenty of collectibles, flea market items, antiques , new merchandise, second hand things, arts & crafts, food, music and fun for the whole family as the Historic Hardy's Spring Festival gets into full swing. The festival is free to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday. Vendors from all around the Hardy area as well as statewide and out of state will make Historic Hardy's Spring Festival an event that will annually attracts thousands of folks . The Festival includes over 100 vendors showing a large variety of handmade crafts . In addition, a variety of food vendors will be serving up unique taste treats Family fun and musical entertainment will be provided at different points through out the festival. Free music performances will be located along Main Street and in the new Amphitheater downtown.
The festival will take place in the Historic Hardy Gym and along Main Street Hardy. The bank parking lots and front street will also offer vendors wares. There is plenty of free parking right on the Main Street and one block off Main Street in the City parking lots. The festival and the over 75 specialty shops that comprise the National Register Historic District in Hardy are all located within the five block downtown area.

For two glorious days Center Stage at the Spit and Shine Car Wash will be "The Showman" WILL YANCY.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE HARDY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS.

Annual Tribute to the Wilburn Brothers- May 29th- Buddy Spicher

THE BIGGEST TRIBUTE YET TO COME! GREAT MUSIC, GREAT ARTISTS AND LOADS OF GUESTS WILL ENJOY HOURS OF FABULOUS ENTERTAINMENT. The world renown Fiddle Player Buddy Spicher will lead the envent with Wilburn Brothers era fiddlin'. Buddy played with the Wilburn Brothers back in the day.

8 year old Leslie Wilburn will be featured along with Tim Crouch, Robby Springfield who is the Steel Guitar player of Urban Cowboy Fame, Downhome Country String Band, Doug Dreisel and more. KSAR will broadcast the festival live.

The world famous Wilburn Brothers were born in Hardy Arkansas. The Wilburn Brothers started 72 years ago as children, singing on the street corner. Overcoming hard times and the war they came back and became one of America's most beloved singing groups.

From the Louisiana Hayride show to the Grand Ole Opry these boys used hard work and determination to climb the music charts. Every year on the Saturday before Memorial Day the City of Hardy pays tribute to these hometown boys. The entire Wilburn Family attends the nostalgic event. Fans are able to talk with the Wilburn's and visit with Ms. Geraldine, Doyle and Teddy's sister. Little Leslie Wilburn performs on his fiddle in the fine family tradition.

This event is quickly becoming one of the highlights of the season so come bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a night under the stars that you won't soon forget.

THIS YEAR, LOCAL AND OUT OF TOWN GUESTS STREAMED BY THE BIG TENT TO EXPRESS THEIR APPRECIATION AND SHARE MEMORIES OF THE WILBURN BROTHERS. MUSIC ARTISTS SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS AND SOLD CD'S AFTER THE SHOW TO THE DELIGHT OF EVERYONE. REFRESHMENTS WERE SOLD BY SEVERAL LOCAL NON PROFIT GROUPS.

Annual Spring River Car Cruise "Cruisin Hardy"-Friday nite June 4th

WHAT A GREAT SUCCESS THIS EVENT WAS IN 2009. YOU MUST MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THIS YEAR SO YOU WON'T MISS THE FUN AND EXCITEMENT THIS CRUISE BRINGS TO DOWNTOWN HISTORIC HARDY. Vintage and Antique Car owners will be cruisin' their classic dreams into downtown Hardy around 5pm. Cruisers will park along the Main Street where they will enjoy a cook out provided by the Advertising and Promotions Commission. Everyone is welcome to come stroll down the rows of highly polished, proudly owned cars. Come prepared to dance to the 50's style music that will be provided by a local band. Last year the streets were still hoppin' at 8 p.m. Every generation came to enjoy the cruise and the shops on Main Street were open for business as well. Be there or be square. Annual Hardy Homesteaders Day- 2nd Saturday in June- June 12th
IF YOU DIDN'T GET TO COME TO THE HOMESTEADERS DAY IN 2009 YOU MISSED A GREAT TIME. MORE DEMONSTRATIONS THAN EVER BEFORE WERE ENJOYED BY THOUSANDS OF FANS OF THE OLD FRONTIER. OVER A HUNDRED POUNDS OF BEANS WERE SERVED ALONG WITH HOE CAKES, HOME MADE BISCUITS, HUSH PUPPIES, PEACH COBBLER, AND MUCH MORE. THE NEW SCHOOL HOUSE WAS A BIG HIT AS WAS THE STEAM DRIVEN TRACTOR. COME ON AND JOIN US THIS YEAR FOR A RIP ROARIN' TIME. Re-live the experiences of those rugged pioneers who settled the Arkansas Ozarks as The Hardy Homesteaders celebrate their 19th annual Homesteaders Day. Music, rides, and a dress contest, will entertain visitors. Don’t forget to bring your favorite box turtle for the exciting Terrapin Races. The event will be held the 2nd Saturday in June, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Loberg Park, just off Main Street.

Homesteaders Day provides a brief glimpse into the lives of our Ozark ancestors through personal historical interpretation and re-enactment of routine daily activities particular to the pioneers and their families that settled in the Hardy area. Visitors will see character portrayals of the tradesmen, sutlers, craftspeople and ordinary folk that made up area communities, as well as the sights, sounds, and smells of an era all but forgotten and unknown to younger generations, whose only exposure may come in the form of history books or movies.

There will be live music, wagon rides, the ever popular Terrapin Races, a turn on the bucking barrel, dancing, and an old fashioned dress contest. Visitors can register at the front gate for door-prizes which include a hand stitched quilt, and drawings throughout the day. Demonstrations will include:

How to Write a Business Plan for Small Businesses July 21st 5:30-7:30

The Hardy Advertising and Promotions Commission will host a seminar at the Hardy City Hall, located @ 124 Woodland Hills Road on how to write a Business Plan for Small Businesses. SCORE will give information on how to write a business plan and will also be available for questions.

Hardy Volunteer Firemen Present: The 2010 Outdoor Sportsmen's Show
July 17th in Loberg Park also featuring the Kids Water Fun Day

The newest event to hit the circuit in Hardy is The 2010 Outdoor Sportsmen's Show. The Hardy Volunteer Fire Department will put on this event with sponsorship from local entities. Loberg Park will be filled from Daylight to Dusk on this Saturday with Sporting Equipment featuring outdoor sports such as fishing, hunting, camping, boating, gunning, archery etc/ Music, Food,Competitions, Demonstrations, an Auction, and Hot July Deals are all in the plan.

The Army National Guard will be there with their biggest climbing wall and the sports trailer. The Game and Fish Commission will bring the large fish tank trailer. This event is in the planning stages so watch this site for more details. ONLY 161 SHOPPING DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS.

Also to be featured will be great water fun for the kids. Especially geared toward ages 3-10. This will be the 7th year for this water festival. Festivities start @ 12:30 and wind down at 3:00. There will be a water slide and water games so wear something to get wet in. The Hardy Volunteer Fire Department will be there with the water curtain and the new water cannon for a splashing good time. A temporary beach will be a feature. First Annual Bluegrass Festival September 11th
Loberg Park will be the site of the first annual Bluegrass Festival. Show Time starts @ 11:00 am and continues on through the day until 9:00 pm. Bands include the Roving Gamblers, Bufflalo City Ramblers, The Keisler Brothers and The Hartley Family. There will be plenty of pasture pickin so come early and stay all day. Passport Club Flea Market- September 11th- Saturday
Family and Friends Flea Market. This is a new and exciting event that is in its second year. It will be held on the FNBC parking lot in Hardy on Saturday September 11th from 8am to 4pm. Treausures of all kinds will be offered up for your buying pleasure. If you need to sell something instead of buying then space is available to all FNBC customers on a first come, first serve basis and are $10.00 per space which is approximately the size of the parking spaces in the FNBC parking lot in Hardy. Come enjoy the day and sell some of your unwanted treasures or buy some. If it doesn't sell then trade it for someone elses. Don't miss this 2nd annual event. Hardy Spring River Pow Wow- October 1-2-3

3 days of traditional Native American events including a princess contest will be the venue for this years event. The Turtle Island Clan will celebrate in fine Native American tradition on the banks of the clear waters of the Srping River in Loberg Park. The Loberg Park area was the traditional camping grounds for the Native American summer soltice. The public is welcome and encouraged to come and learn the ways of the forefathers. All dancers and drummers welcome. There will be a trading area, Admission is free.

Hours are 6-10 on Friday, 10-10 on Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday.

Octoberfest- Oct16-17 ***NEW NEAVF Volkswagen Festival- 16th***
The Octoberfest of 2010 is growing and has many great features for children of all ages. The event will kick off on the third Friday of October and continue into Saturday. Starting on the third Friday there will be live music in the new amphitheatre in downtown Historic Hardy. Craft demonstrations will be set up in Dr. Thompson Park with the possibility of artists in attendance from the Spring River Artists Guild Art Show. We are proud to boast that downtown Historic Hardy is the new location for the 10th Annual NEAVF Volks-Folks Car Show. This year the event will featuring "Timeless Transportation". Saturday will come in with a beep beep and a flash when the Volks Folks roll into town for a full blown, all out, car show and swap meet. The Volkswagen show benefits the American Cancer Society. Come and get all your Christmas shopping done in one location. This two day event is admission free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday. There will be plenty of collectibles, flea market items, antiques , new merchandise, second hand things, arts & crafts, food, music and fun for the whole family. Vendors from as far away as Maryland, Florida, and seven other states make the Historic Hardy Fall Festival an event that annually attracts thousands of folks. The Festival includes over 100 vendors showing a large variety of handmade crafts, including wooden items, jewelry, clothing, candles, salsas, florals, dolls, holiday items, and many other unique crafts as well as all the items liseted above. In addition, a variety of food vendors will be serving up unique taste treats. Family fun and musical entertainment will be provided at different points throughout the festival area. Free music performances will be located along Main Street.
The festival will take place along Main Street Hardy which has been restored to the quaint beauty of a past century, and in theHistoric Hardy Gym. There is plenty of free parking one block off Main Street and within comfortable walking distance of the Festival. Trail of Terror- Saturday October 30th

Due to flooding the Trail of Terror was held in the Historic Hardy Gym last year. What a blast it was. Over 950 kids attended. All dressed up and accompanied by proud parents the kids loaded up on candy and made a visit to the pumpkin patch to decorate a pint size pumpkin. Hope to see you this year. Sign up for a free booth space early to assure the best spot. *****Lots of fun things to see and great candy to boot. Spooky fun for the kids. Parents dress up too and escort your little goblins around the trail while gathering all kinds of great treats. All for free. Don't be scared, it's only a trail of terror!

To set up a booth call the Hardy City Hall to register. Safe and fun is the name of this game.

We are having this event on the 30th which is a Saturday. You will be able to set up your booth a couple of days early and it will be secure as we are going to have the evnt in the Historic Hardy Gym. So come rain or not this event will be on GO for all those little ghosts and goblins.

Hardy Christmas Parade- December 11th
This years 2010 theme will be Here Comes Santa Claus,Thist will be Hardy's 26th Christmas Parade and the tradition of a good time and lots of entertainment will continue. Come rain or shine or hopefully snow, the Parade starts at the City Hall @124 Woodland Hills Road promptly at 11 a.m. and continues down Historic Hardys' Main Street and then turns right into the drive through at Simmons Bank. This is an extremely popular event with entrants numbering around 60. A sure DON"T MISS IT event. Call and sign up early. There are prizes and points are awarded for sticking to the theme.
